Next I used an under-sized drill bit to cut all the way through the end cap to make the initial hole. Always using that cutting fluid.
I'm showing my hand in the next photo for a reason.... I next chuck the 3/16" reamer, using the reamer size that I want my final hole to be. I chuck this in the lathe but I hand turn the tubing slowly, backing it up occasionally to let
the reamer clear itself of the metal shavings every so often. Always remembering to use the cutting fluid.
After reaming out all eight holes I took them back to my sander and using 60 grit paper cleaned the ends of the caps off then finish sanded them with 150 grit to get out any of the "scratches" left
by the 60 grit paper. If the ends aren't too bad just finish them with 150 grit without even using the 60. Save yourself some time.
It took me about 4 hours to grind, drill and finish sand all eight holes. Doesn't seem like a lot was done, but there were quite a few steps to take to get you there.
